BORGONOVO

Guaranteeing the Transparent Quality of Glassware Since 1950

BorgonovoVetreria di Borgonovo  was founded in 1950 by three partners, Francesco Piccioni, Icilio Cantoni and the Tuscan glass master, Mario Marzini. Over the next decade, with investment, the facility was transformed from manual to semi-automatic and later to fully automatic production. In 1987, Piccioni acquired the his partners' share holding to became sole proprietor.

During the Nineties the company was acquired by Decover and further investment increased the plant surface area from 12,000 square meters to the current 52,000 square meters.

Today, the plant produces some 130 million pieces per year spread over 500 different shapes and sizes. The entire production is manufactured using one type of glass which is obtained from the fusion of siliceous sand with the addition of fluxes, bleaches and refiners. The glass is of extra white sodic-calcic type (lead free) and the products are created through phases of pressing and press-blowing.

Committed to Clean Energy

Vetreria di Borgonovo is conscious of its environmental impact. In 2011, a photovoltaic plant for the production of clean energy was installed to the roof of the plant. With 8000 square meters of solar panels, it generates 966 kW of power, and it can produce more than 1,1 GWh/per year thus covering the complete power requirement for its full production.
