SUSTAINABILITY BY RONAI

A.Ronai LLC launches a new recycling programme

Purchase your new uniform from Ronai and we’ll recycle your old uniform for free*!

Simply choose from a host of garments from the Uniforms by Ronai or Bespoke by Ronai collections and Ronai commit to have your old garments de-branded and transformed into new environmentally friendly products.

Ronai, a leading force in the industry, manufacturing uniforms since 2010 has expanded their operation to provide a seamless experience for their customers.   By participating in the programme the hospitality industry can create a fresh new look for their property while actively improving their CSR and landfill waste.

Any returned and recycled garments will be re-purposed into new fabric yarns, the garments will be shredded into fibres via machine; these fibres are then cleaned and re-aligned in a 'carding process' before being re-spun into yarn.

Should any garments not be suitable for re-purposing they will be shredded and used as stuffing for furniture.

*Terms and conditions

- Any uniforms to be returned to Ronai should be washed, packed and boxed prior to collection or delivery.  Collection from any property will only be done once

- The old uniform does not have to be a Ronai produced garment

- Recycling without any purchase from Ronai will be charged at 10dhs per kilo and will be on a delivery only basis.

We Support The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

In 2020, the United Nations launched A Decade of Action calling for everyone, individually and within all sectors of society, to take action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. As a socially responsible manufacturer, we have worked hard to do our part for our community as well as our planet.

We have improved our impact by:

  • Ethical sourcing and making verifiable sustainability claims for textiles.
  • Partnering with customers to adopt best practice in food hygiene standards, offering solutions that help retain food freshness and nutrition.
  • Reducing manufacturing waste that goes to landfill and putting it to use through community initiatives.

Ethical Sourcing and Making Verifiable Sustainability Claims For Textiles

Sustainability Standards

At Ronai, we are committed to bringing our customers the highest global standards within the sustainable textile industry. While many of our fabrics meet international testing standards and carry the OEKO-TEX certification, we also offer a range of fabrics that use recycled yarns and sustainably produced fibres.

Read more about the Global Recycled Standard on the Textile Exchange website. The Textile Exchange is a global nonprofit positively impacting the climate through accelerating the use of preferred materials across the global textile industry.

Partnering with customers to adopt best practice in food hygiene standards, offering solutions that help retain food freshness and nutrition.

We are discouraging the use of disposable packaging and single-use plastics which not only deplete the nutritional benefits of food but also affect the freshness which means more food ends up thrown away and wasted.

Instead, we offer a comprehensive range of food storage, preparation and hygiene solutions and we work with our customers to maintain their kitchen and catering equipment quality and standards.

Read more about UN SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production and how an estimated one third of all food ends up rotting in bins. Not only does over-production of food affect our environment, low quality food is affecting both childhood obesity and nutrition.

Reducing manufacturing waste that goes to landfill and putting it to use through community initiatives

Responsible Manufacturing Banner

Fabric waste form the greatest amount of waste from our manufacturing process. We are proud to announce that since starting our waste reduction initiative, we have cut our total manufacturing waste by a fantastic 80%!

Since we started our waste initiative, our teams have been keeping whatever is left from any pattern cutting and this is the absolute majority of our waste in the production department.  As a result there is very little else, any other waste is only small such as pieces of thread and tiny scraps, we would consider these floor sweepings

The fabric waste is then handed over to the warehouse team, weighed and kept boxed up for delivery to local schools and we keep a ‘weigh in’ sheet to track how much we are saving from landfill.

In total, every week, we save around 20kg of fabric waste from ending up in landfill. We also recycle all our discarded cardboard packaging locally.
